Chrishelle Waldo

As a Virginia native, now a proud El Paso resident, I’m the hands and heart behind Pink Redolence — a crochet journey that began as a way to cope with my chronic illness and has since blossomed into a thriving business.

Taught to crochet by my grandmother at the age of 9, what started as a comforting hobby has grown into a true passion. From cozy blankets to stylish wearables and unique accessories, every piece I create brings warmth and joy not only to others but also to my own heart.

I’m deeply inspired by vibrant colors, rich textures, and the power of handmade artistry. Each item is thoughtfully designed to be both beautiful and functional — made to last and meant to be cherished. When you wear or use a piece from Pink Redolence, I want you to feel good, knowing it was lovingly handmade, stitch by stitch.

Beyond creating, my mission is also to inspire. I aim to be a resource for well-being, creativity, and learning through the art of crochet. Whether you’re looking for something special or seeking to learn a new skill, I’m here to share, uplift, and connect through craft.

Michael Marks

Michael D. Marks founded Total Eclipse Tinting with a vision born from humble beginnings—starting the business in his garage while still serving on active duty with the U.S. Army. After 20 years as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear specialist, Michael saw an opportunity to combine his lifelong passion for cars with his military-trained precision and attention to detail.

What began as a side project in his garage has evolved into Total Eclipse Tinting. This thriving veteran-owned business now serves the El Paso community from a professional location. Michael’s vision was always bigger than just a hobby—he saw the potential to create something meaningful that would allow him to continue serving people after his military retirement, bringing the same level of precision, integrity, and dedication he learned during his Army service to every customer interaction.

The transition from active-duty soldier working out of his garage to full-time entrepreneur wasn’t easy, but Michael’s military background gave him the discipline and work ethic needed to build something from nothing. Drawing from his experience as a leader who was responsible for the safety and well-being of soldiers, he built Total Eclipse Tinting on the foundation that every customer deserves the same level of care and protection he once provided to his fellow service members.

Every late night in the garage, every early morning learning new techniques, and every satisfied customer brought him closer to his dream of owning a business that reflected his values of quality, integrity, and service. Michael’s hands-on approach, developed during those early garage days, remains at the heart of Total Eclipse Tinting today. He still personally oversees every installation, ensuring that the same attention to detail that got him started continues to define the customer experience.

What drives Michael daily is the opportunity to protect what matters most to people—their families, their vehicles, their homes, and their businesses. He sees each installation as a promise kept, whether it’s helping a fellow veteran stay comfortable during El Paso’s intense heat or protecting a family’s investment in their home. His background as both an auto repair mechanic and a college graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Purdue University Global gives him a unique perspective on both the technical and business sides of customer service.

Michael’s journey from a one-person garage operation to employing fellow veterans and serving the community shows what’s possible when military discipline meets entrepreneurial passion. His long-term vision for Total Eclipse Tinting is to continue growing as a trusted community partner while maintaining the personal touch and quality standards that define the company.

Today, Michael looks back on those garage beginnings with pride, knowing that every challenge overcome and every skill learned during those early days laid the foundation for Total Eclipse Tinting’s reputation for excellence. For him, Total Eclipse Tinting isn’t just a business—it’s the culmination of years of hard work, military training, and an unwavering commitment to serving his community with the same excellence he brought to serving his country.

Marshon Trotter

Proud wife, mother of two beautiful daughters, grandmother to six, and recently blessed with a great-granddaughter — my precious “GG.” I was raised by my grandmother, who instilled in me the values of faith, resilience, and grace that continue to guide me today.

After 38 years in the automotive industry, I retired as a Global Director, where I had the privilege of leading training and standardization across multiple international plants in Africa, China, Hungary, Thailand, Germany, and Mexico (Leon, Saltillo, and Nuevo Laredo). My career allowed me to witness the world, learn new cultures, and, more importantly, share the gospel in unexpected places. Through this journey, God blessed me with many “bonus children” — souls I connected with across continents who became part of my extended spiritual family.

Throughout my life, I’ve faced several health challenges, but through unwavering faith in God, they were only temporary setbacks. Today, I am a licensed Evangelist in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), faithfully serving under the leadership of Pastor Wilson N. Tademy and First Lady Jeanetia Tademy at New Jerusalem COGIC.

Since closing the door on corporate life, God opened a new one — leading me into entrepreneurship. I am now the owner of Brey’Nana Blessing Boutique, where I work alongside my youngest daughter and a beloved bonus daughter. Our boutique is more than a business; it’s a ministry. We are committed to offering modest, affordable fashion while ensuring everyone who enters feels the sincere love of Christ — even if they walk out without making a purchase.

Of all my achievements, my greatest joy is seeing my daughters grow into loving, faith-filled mothers. They, along with my grandchildren and great-granddaughter, are my greatest blessings and testimony of God’s faithfulness.

To God be all the glory!

Estine Davis

Estine Davis was born in 1932 in East Texas to parents Clark and Bulah Hill. The family moved to El Paso when she was six years old. Estine attended the segregated Douglass Elementary and High School, which at the time was the only school Black children were allowed to attend in El Paso. At 18, Ms. Estine moved to Tyler, TX, to attend barber school, and after graduating, returned to El Paso to cut hair at Fort Bliss, where she charged $1.50 per haircut. In 1959, she began working at the Square Deal Barbershop. In 1964, Ms. Estine went to work at Eastside Barbershop, which was owned by her godfather, Mr. Roscoe Marlin. By the mid-1960s, Mr. Marlin turned over the keys to her, and Estine Eastside

Barbershop was born.

Ms. Estine has owned her barbershop for over 70 years. She was one of the first Black women to own and operate her own business in El Paso, Texas. Her barbershop has been located at the corner of Piedras and Alameda since 1960. Estine’s Eastside Barbershop has been a fixture in the history of El Paso and an anchor in the community for more than 70 years. She cut the hair of members from the Harlem Globetrotters to entertainers like Little Richard, Earl Grant, Professional Wrestlers, college athletes, and thousands of soldiers, including Army General Officers, as well as the everyday citizen who walks the streets of Piedras and Alameda.

When a person walked into her barbershop, they would see history of El Paso on her “Wall of Fame.” Ms. Estine’s “Wall of Fame” depicted the outstanding accomplishments of Black Americans of all ages, sectors of life, local and national. There were many who worked hard to get their picture and achievements on her acclaimed “Wall.” Her ‘Wall” displayed the 1966 National Basketball Championship- Texas Western College basketball players after the team made history by becoming the first team with an all-black starting team lineup (now the University of Texas at El Paso, UTEP). When members of the team entered the barbershop, they were rewarded with free haircuts. Estine displayed among many honorees, El Paso’s first homegrown General, MG Dana J.H. Pittard on the “Wall,” a graduate of Eastwood High School in El Paso, Texas.

Ms. Estine did not just leave her imprint in her barbershop; she was an active member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in El Paso for more than 70 years. She supervised and mentored many young boys and girls as Director/Trainer of the Children’s Usher Board (ages 8- 12) for over 50 years. Ms. Estine was also responsible for the Easter Parade each year where the young children modeled their Easter attire with their Easter baskets. Everyone looked forward to this event, which was always held at a big hotel downtown El Paso. This was new and different for El Paso.

Estine was a community activist and organizer in the El Paso’s community. As a creative, adventurous, relentless worker, Ms. Estine left her footprint in several other places in the community. Estine was the first Black to graduate from the Mannequin Manor Finishing and Modeling School, Inc. in El Paso. She used that experience and expertise to found Estine’s Fashion Model Agency, which was the only Black modeling company in the Southwest for over 30 years. She was the original founder, perennial organizer, and sponsor of the annual Miss Black El Paso Southwest Scholarship Pageant. Ms. Davis created her first float for the El Paso Thanksgiving parade in 1982 and had made one yearly until 2021. She has been engaged in the NAACP and the Planned Parenthood Board of El Paso.

She co-founded the non-profit McCall Neighborhood Center, established in 1983. Ms. Estine (Trooper Davis) served as the President of the El Paso Chapter of the Ninth & Tenth (Horse) Cavalry Association, an Official Army Unit Association. The organization exists for the purpose of preserving the memory of the Buffalo Soldiers, and is a non-profit, educational, patriotic military service organization, which shall remain non-partisan and non-political.

Ms. Davis was a part of a brief list of exceptionally notable movers and shakers in El Paso. She has worked and on collaborated Transportation infrastructure, housing, commerce, and civil actions for South (Eastside) Central El Paso with many local and statewide political leaders.

There are numerous books, articles, and formal essays written about Ms. Estine Davis and her accomplishments, to include “Wheresoever My People Chance to Dwell” by Maceo C. Dailey and Borderzine-A Dream Fulfilled at Estine’s Eastside Barbershop After All These Years, by Eddie Delgado, April 29, 2010.

While small in stature, she is a fireball of energy and determination and has been a role model in her community for over 69 years.

ORO Temple No. 9

Oro Temple No. 9: A Legacy of Service and Brotherhood

Chartered on August 12, 1902, Oro Temple No. 9 stands as one of the oldest Prince Hall Shriners Temples in the world. Originally based in Jacksonville, Florida, the charter was relocated to El Paso, Texas after World War II by M.L. Lopez, a dedicated educator and railroad worker.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Oro Temple No. 9 gained a strong reputation as a “military temple,” due in part to its large membership of military personnel stationed in the region. In 1966, Oro Temple became a member of the Inter Council Club (ICC) in El Paso, operating under the name “High-Twelve Club.” The ICC provided an essential platform for communication and collaboration among Black organizations in the city, ensuring that events and community efforts did not conflict and were well attended despite the city’s small Black population.

Oro Temple No. 9 has maintained a long-standing commitment to civil rights and community engagement. The temple is a lifetime member of the NAACP and was active in parades and events as far west as Los Angeles, California during the 1960s and 1970s. At that time, it was one of the few Prince Hall Shriner Temples in Texas located near Dallas.

On March 22, 1975, Oro Temple hosted its first Potentate Ball at the Emerald Ballroom in El Paso. As members moved throughout the region, the influence of Oro Temple spread across Texas and the western United States, with new temples chartered under the Imperial Council of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (A.E.A.O.N.M.S) in states like Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico, and cities in Texas such as Lovett and Augustine.

Oro Temple No. 9 continues to serve the El Paso community through a wide range of charitable efforts. In 2024 and 2025, the temple donated school uniforms and supplies to Hart Elementary, provided over 5,000 Thanksgiving meals at the El Paso Salvation Army, and supported families during the Christmas season with donations of toys, clothing, and essentials to the El Paso Child Crisis Center.

Their community service also includes purchasing and placing wreaths at Fort Bliss Cemetery, feeding the homeless at the Independent Living Center, conducting voter registration drives at El Paso Community College, and supporting health initiatives. The temple participated in the Ronald McDonald 5K Walk/Run for Children, volunteered at the El Paso Fight Hunger Center, and organized a Diabetes Walk at Veterans Park to raise awareness and funds for the National Diabetes Initiative.

From their historic roots to their ongoing service, Oro Temple No. 9 remains a beacon of leadership, unity, and brotherhood—uplifting communities across Texas and the western United States.

Dan Webb

Dan Webb is not from El Paso, but he got here as soon as he could. Originally from Selma, Alabama, Dan came to Fort Bliss with the United States Army. After retiring from the Army as a First Sergeant after 24 years of honorable service, he decided to make El Paso his home and immediately got involved in service to the El Paso community. He has dedicated his entire life to service to others. As a young man, he marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement.  He began his service to El Paso in 1997 by serving as a member of the City/County Animal Shelter Advisory Committee during which time he established the El Paso C.A.R.T. (Community Animals Reaching Teens) Program, which was a counseling program for first-time teen offenders.  Working with the El Paso County Juvenile Probation Department, he operated the C.A.R.T. Program from 1997 until 2002.  He then began a Feed the Homeless Program where he provided food and personal hygiene items to the homeless, which he continues to this day, except he’s now added clothing. In 2010 he founded and established Veterans at Breakfast to provide a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere where like-minded veterans from all military services could come together and enjoy a cup of coffee together in a social setting.  They meet on the last Thursday of each month to share experiences and information, provide opportunities for networking with other veterans, and to provide relevant information regarding veterans issues from qualified, professional, and expert sources.  He has grown Veterans At Veterans from a small group of four or five Veterans to one of the largest Veteran Organizations in El Paso County.  He served as a volunteer and member of the El Paso Texas Flags Across America (EPTFAA) and the Old Glory Memorial site where he was instrumental in raising funds for the new flag pole, the largest in Northeast El Paso.  He went on to serve on the Board of Directors for EPTFAA, and eventually, President.  For seven years, he was single-handedly responsible for organizing the Northeast Veterans Day Parade, and was a key member in organizing the Annual Northeaster Parade.  He also served as a member of the El Paso County Veterans Advisory Board for Northeast, District 4, during the period 2019-2020.  He has collected over 3,000 items of Black History and Civil Rights Movement memorabilia which he displayed throughout the El Paso and surrounding communities during various celebrations and Black History Month events where he also provided lectures and educational sessions.  He is a member of the Northeast Business Alliance, the Northeast Easter Parade Committee, the Black El Paso Democrats, and the Northeast Veterans Day Parade Committee.  Some of his more recent accomplishments include receiving a City Proclamation recognizing him and Veterans At Breakfast; Serving as Grand Marshal for the Veterans Day Parade, receiving a Congressional Commendation Award, recognized by the El Paso Veterans and Riders Association, and receiving an El Paso County Resolution from Commissioner’s Court.

A proud El Paso native, Dartez is a 4-time El Paso City Champion in both the 100m and 200m dashes, and a 2-time City Champion in the 400m dash, and the current El Paso 200m dash city record holder. His early dominance set the tone for a national career that would see him become a 3-time USATF National Champion and record holder, as well as a Nike National Champion, Adidas National Champion, and a 2-time New Balance Nationals 200m Champion. He also claimed the title of 200m Brooks Champion, 3-time Great Southwest Invitational Champion. And a 4-time state medalist

A national record holder in the 4x100m relay and the El Paso city record holder in the same event, Dartez’s legacy extends beyond individual accolades. As a proud team member of USATF.

Dartez continued his sprinting success at Western Kentucky University, where he earned a degree in Finance in 2021. On the collegiate stage, he became a 2-time Conference USA (C-USA) Indoor 200m Dash Champion, a runner-up in the 60m dash, indoor 4x400m relay runner-up, and C-USA Outdoor 200m Champion.

His journey in track and field began in the 7th grade, but it was under the mentorship of high school coach Manny Herrera and summer coach Michael Truax that his passion truly ignited. Their guidance helped shape the champion he is today—both on and off the track.

A fierce competitor, committed student, and role model, Dartez embodies discipline, resilience, and excellence in every stride.
