The MLK Committee of El Paso hosted their annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration and Observance. The keynote speaker was Dr. Michael Williams, Director, UTEP African American Studies Department.

Bishop Washington is a civil rights activist, and El Paso Black trailblazer who is respected by so many in the El Paso community. She attended the Douglass School, served as President of the El Paso Branch of the NAACP, and is the co-founder of the MLK Committee. Find out more about this dynamic woman as she shares a little bit about how she became the community’s leading fighter for civil rights. This Veterans Day weekend has been full of great displays and acts of service honoring our Veterans. Today we feature US Army Sergeant Major (Retired) Dibella Pierce. SGM Pierce is the first Black Female in the Air Defense Artillery Branch to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major.
