Get Ready for Kwanzaa 2025!

December 8, 2025 by C'ri Roi

Each year, the McCall Neighborhood Center brings the community together to honor Kwanzaa—a week-long cultural celebration centered on unity, purpose, and collective growth. This year’s observance will take place in El Paso from Friday, December 26, 2025 through Thursday, January 1, 2026, featuring nightly gatherings (and a New Year’s Day closing celebration) led by respected community organizations.

Food will be served—bring a friend! Some days will also be streamed live.

What Kwanzaa Means

Kwanzaa is a celebration shaped through thoughtful cultural synthesis—rooted in African traditions and expressed through a modern, community-centered practice. Its deepest continental roots connect to first-fruits (harvest) celebrations across Africa, which provide a model of shared values, gratitude, and togetherness. Kwanzaa was created to reaffirm and restore cultural rootedness, and to serve as a recurring communal gathering that strengthens bonds, reinforces identity, and renews collective direction.
